Couples Devotional

It’s said that a couple that prays together stays together. How true is that saying. Prayer is powerful and when husband and wife are in agreement. Let us not forget to study God’s word though. The same with prayer, couples devotionals are twice as rewarding. When you study together you strengthen your marriage and make it more likely that you’ll stay strong though the years to come.

If you really want to strengthen your marriage then set aside time for a couple’s devotional. You will gain more insight into God’s word and share this special time with your spouse. If you want to truly love, honor, respect and cherish your spouse; then offer to have a couple’s devotional with them. Let God be your focus of your marriage and you’ll be happy with the results.

When you read the Bible as a couple the scripture comes to life and is real for your situation. Have you ever wanted to know where you can find solid Christian marriage advice? Look no further then your own Bible! Are you and your spouse bored and want adventure? Well find a book in the bible that sounds interesting and dive in. The Bible is full of excitement and mysteries waiting to be explored. It also has real and relevant advice for today.

It’s never to early or late to start a time for devotion with your spouse. If you’re newly married or you’ve been around the marriage block a few times now is a good time as any to start. If you want to better know your spouse and God at the same time then what better way then a couple’s devotional. It’s easy to start but hard to stop, but that’s not such a bad thing.

Set aside at least thirty minutes and it can last longer if you desire. Start with prayer to help you focus and ask God to show you what He wants you to learn. Next read as little as one verse or a couple of chapters. It’s not the quantity of verses but what you walk away with. Have plenty of discussion time and ask questions. Then see if you can find the answers within the Bible. Using a concordance or reference Bible is helpful. Take your time as couple and see what words of advice and wisdom God has for you.

When you first start making time for your devotions you may feel like it’s a chore or just another pointless activity that takes up precious time. But you will start to see that it’s what gives life to your marriage and you’ll be jumping at every chance to share this special time with your spouse. You can make your devotional time playful and exploratory or transcending and serene. Just as you have your own special time with the Lord, you can make your couple’s devotional unique to the tone and mood of your marriage.

Every couple’s devotional is unique in time, structure and subject. But some things are the same like; growth as a couple, better communication and deeper understanding of how a Christian marriage should look like. Let God be your teacher as you come together to study His word. A couple’s devotional time just might be what fans the flames of love.
