Without a doubt communication in marriage is the key to a healthy lasting relationship. The sad truth is however that many people are not the best at communicating. If you are married or even thinking of marriage you need to learn how to communicate.
The bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. That also means the life and death of your marriage is in the same power. Control of your tongue is vital! You can use it to build or destroy your marriage.
When we communicate with our spouse we need to take care that we do so in love at all times. Remember that real love does not envy, boast, it is not proud, and above all it covers many sins! We should learn what that means for our communication in marriage.
Love covers a multitude of sins
Why would anyone who loves their spouse bring up old sins? I understand the need to get "closure" but once you have it then the sin should be covered and never brought back up. I have seen couples fight over the same thing for years. Please tell me how that shows love.
It may be hard to do this if your the type who holds a grudge. It is hard to love at times like we should. This doesn't mean we shouldn't make every effort to work on it. Forgiveness is part of love. It may be hard but it is needed for our marriages.
Communication in Marriage Means More Than Talking
The language of love is not french. It is our actions and attitudes to one another. I can say "I Love You" till I am blue in the face but if I am stabbing you in the back at the same time it means very little. In that way love is like faith. Without works it is dead.
Remember these few things when you communicate with your spouse. They will help you a lot.
