Society does not appear to understand what marriage is today. Conflicts all around what marriage is and who can get married seems to be all over. The reason for marriage is no longer understood. For us to understand what marriage is we have to know what God's view of marriage really is. Also we should understand why God created marriage to begin with.
Although a lot of people refuse to admit that God is the only and final authority on all subjects this doesn't matter. God may not be what people want to believe but like it or not He is and always will be the only authority in life. God created life and society. Marriage is the beginning of the family and the family is the beginning of society.
Let us answer the question of what marriage is. We have to look at the word marriage and know what it means. The bible says marriage is the uniting of a man and woman. In the book of romans the bible clearly states that it is not natural for a man to have sex with another man and the same goes for women. Because of that marriage must only be for a man and woman.
Being united in marriage means two people have their mind, body, and souls in agreement. The bible says no two can walk together except they'd be in agreement. That means their mind must agree with each other or at least one yield two of the other. Their body does not belong to them but instead belongs to their spouse. Also there will and desires should match.
This is how God views marriage. It is the uniting of the husband and wife. This will always be God's structure for marriage. Marriage will also always be the foundation of a family which is the foundation of society. That is why we must never forget the foundation of marriage and what marriage is.
